Fallingwater Opens Doors for Exclusive Weekend Stay
September 25, 2009
Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece Fallingwater has been named one of the “28 Places to See Before You Die” by Smithsonian magazine and now fans have an opportunity to experience one of the most famous homes in America in a whole new way.
As part of a new program, Insight Onsite at Fallingwater, up to eight people at a time will be able to spend one full day and two evenings at the house in Laurel Highlands, about 50 miles outside of Pittsburgh. Cost is $1,195. Activities include an in-depth tour, lunch on the terrace, cocktails by the fireplace, and a dinner party at the house with curators and a guest such as a leading figure in the architecture community. One caveat, guests won’t actually be sleeping at the house. Instead, they’ll bunk at a newer four-bedroom home built on the grounds for the accountant of the Kaufmann family, which owned the property.
If one weekend at Fallingwater just isn’t enough for you, you’re in luck. Wright’s protege, Frank Robert, created his own version of Fallingwater, Kaweah Falls in Three Rivers, CA and that property is currently listed for-sale for $1.95 million.
